Ally has over 30 years experience in the seafood industry having started his career journey in salmon farming with Marine Harvest Scotland in 1987. He has held a variety of production, technical and CR&S roles in seafood supply chains and joined ASC in November 2021 from Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in the UK where he was responsible for fish and seafood sourcing policy. In his time at Sainsbury’s, he represented the business in a number of organisations including GSSI, GDST Steering Committee, Sustainable Seafood Coalition, Fisheries Innovation Scotland Board of Trustees, Aquaculture Research Collaboration Hub UKAdvisory Board, Seafood 2040 Industry Leadership Group and the Supervisory Board of ASC.

Ally is passionate about responsible aquaculture and the role that ASC will play in ensuring a growing supply of environmentally sustainable, socially responsible and affordable food from the aquaculture industry. As Senior Director of Technical Operations, Ally oversees and provides strategic direction to ASC’s Standards and Science Directorate and the Programme Assurance Directorate.
