Esther joined the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) in November 2013. She leads the outreach work with a focus on engaging commercial stakeholders in the ASC certification and labeling program.
Prior to joining ASC, Esther worked at the Sustainable Trade Initiative where she was responsible for their Aquaculture market transformation program. Sustainability was not on her agenda when she started her career. However, her interest and activity in the field began during her role as deputy director of the Dutch NGO, The North Sea Foundation.
Esther has over 10 years’ professional experience in the seafood sector and previously served as a member of the Marine Stewardship Council’s Stakeholder Council. She has a scientific background in Environmental Innovation and Communication and is since then very much interested in facilitating business towards more sustainable practices.
