Programme Assurance Manager
Julie joined the ASC team in January 2020. Julie has over twenty years’ experience working in quality management system roles within the assurance, food and agriculture industry. Julie worked for a CAB that specialised in fishery, supply chain and aquaculture certification for 12 years before joining ASC. Her role as Technical Manager included the management and maintenance of the CAB’s Quality Management System, the design and development of documentation and processes to ensure accreditation and programme compliance, oversight of accreditation body and standard owner witness and office audits.
During her time with the CAB Julie acted as the primary point of contact for accreditation bodies and supply chain programme owners. Julie was also the Global Scheme Manager for a number supply chain programmes including the MSC, ASC, RFM and IFFO chain of custody programmes, also the Global GAP Programme. The role included the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, documentation and training material to meet the standard owner requirements. Julie conducted the technical and certification review of all audit reports, provided training to auditors and technical direction to operational, commercial and audit teams.
Julie is a qualified lead auditor and conducted internal audits to the QMS standards ISO17065, ISO17021 and programme owner requirements within CAB’s European assurance sector.
After graduating with a BSc Hons Degree in Food Technology Julie worked for 6 years as a Quality Assurance Manager in a vertically integrated agribusiness, her main role was to audit and advise supply farms and manage and maintain the company’s food safety certification (BRC) and farm assurance scheme. Post this role, Julie spent 4 years working as a Quality Advisor on an EU grant aided project to improve efficiency and raise standards across the Northern Ireland seafood industry.
