Kathrin joined the ASC in November 2018 as performance data coordinator after finishing her PhD at Kiel University. During her PhD she worked mainly with pikeperch in recirculating aquaculture systems at the Gesellschaft fuer marine Aquakultur (GMA) Buesum in the north of Germany. Kathrin has a BSc from the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven in marine technologies and a MSc from the University of Stirling in sustainable aquaculture. In her master thesis Kathrin evaluated how certification of shrimp and prawn farms affects the whole community in rural Bangladesh. Afterwards she worked for two years for the German international development agency GIZ within the topic of fisheries and aquaculture. Since 2016 Kathrin has been actively involved with the European aquaculture society (EAS) and is currently the student representative on the EAS board of directors. In her free time Kathrin volunteers as a lifeguard and swim instructor and enjoys kitesurfing or volleyball and passionately plays underwater hockey.
