Outreach Regional Coordinator for SE Asia and India
Duangchai Paungkaew, “Pla”, joined the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) in August 2019 and is based in Bangkok, Thailand. She is responsible for outreach work and focusing on producer support in SE Asia and India.
Pla has widely professional experiences to work in the government sector, business sector and Non-profit organizations. After 9 years of experience in the seafood industry, she follows her personal interested and passion in Environment and Human Rights issues by working in international organizations e.g. WWF-Thailand, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and etc. She also got involved in many projects related to aquaculture e.g. Business cases study of Thai Shrimp farming, Labour forces in the Aquaculture sectors and etc.
Prior to joining with ASC, Pla was the qualified auditor in the Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) where she gained an understanding of business behaviour, certification system and auditing methodology in various international standard schemes.
Pla has a strong intention and commitment to contribute her own scientific knowledge in Fishery & Aquaculture, also in Law, to support producers and farmers who would like to transform and/or maintain their businesses toward a responsible and sustainable platform.
