VR323_Seabass_v1.1_3.3.4DNVCroatia: Cromaris - Košara, Lamjana, Velo Žalo, Lim and BudavaThat the ASC should exclude escapes as the reason for the difference in in/out numbers. Dead fish are counted by dividing weight collected with average fish weight. However, some fish are decomposed before collection or cannibalised, therefore making calculations inaccurate. More informationNot approved - As fish populations are under pressure, esp. in the Mediterranean, negative impacts from escaped fish need to be mitigated. The ASC Seabass, Seabream and Meagre Standard seeks to address escapes of both types: noticeable and non-noticeable, demanding a farm management system to minimise escape risks and set metric limits on total allowable escapes, as well as total unexplained loss, addressing potential non-noticeable fish escapes.24/07/2019
VR322_Seabass_v.1.1_2.3.3DNVCroatia: Cromaris - Lamjana, Košara and Velo žaloThat three farm sites be allowed to be situated closer than 500m to seagrass beds despite not being allowed in the ASC Sea Bass, Sea Bream and Meagre Standard. VR313_Salmon_v.1.1_ 5.2.5&5.2.6Control UnionChile - Site Aracena 9That ASC consider applying the percentage factor out of 100% recommended on the total PTI calculation at that entire crop cycle. More informationNot approved - The ASC recognises an important element of an integrated pest management strategy at a farm level is to respect labeling instructions of the anti-parasiticides products used, including the dosage, thus, a % of dosage factor, as the approach used by Aracena 9 has not been included as one of the components to calculate the Parasiticide Treatment Index. Furthermore, the use of sub-doses could have negative impacts on the effectiveness of the pest management strategy implemented by a farm (i.e. development of resistance).26/06/2019
VR285_Salmon_v1.1_2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.2.3, 2.2.4SCS Global ServicesAustralia: Tassal’s MF236 Okehampton farmAn existing VR is in place for performance indicators 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 for salmon farms in Tasmania’s South-East region (VR24). Tassal’s MF236 Okehampton farm site on the East coast of Tasmania is a new site that is subject to a range of new environmental monitoring and compliance instruments detailed in an Environmental Licence (EL 9852/1) as issued by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). The rationale for VR24 is that the comprehensive monitoring programs based on local research already established in Tasmania and are more relevant than the specific ASC requirements. This rationale is applicable to the Okehampton site, however, a new VR is sought because the site is located in a different body of water. This VR looks to incorporate the requirements for the new Okehampton site specific Environmental Licence into the ASC assessment of the site. More informationNot Approved - This VR is closed as N/A on the basis that CAB is no longer the responsible CAB for the client and the current CAB is not involved in this VR.25/06/2019
